Longtime MAC member has not intention of aging out of exercise
For more than 40 years, Anita Robboy has been a consistent face at Mount Auburn Club. In fact, she says if attendance were taken, as in most elementary schools, she would have received a near perfect on her report card! Anita has reaped many benefits from her commitment to exercise.
At the age of 73, Anita attributes her cheery attitude, optimistic outlook, energy and rosy complexion to her exercise regimen. At MAC, she has made many
new friends, enjoyed familiar friends – all while expunging the aches and pains of an aging body. Her daily routine is her best weapon against the
inevitable decline of the body – all while yielding oodles of energy for life.
Anita has participated in many marathons, half marathons and triathlons over the years. She aspires to be sufficiently fit to continue to do more modest competitions in years to come even if her strength and speed as a swimmer, runner or biker have suffered the dwindles. As Anita puts it, she has no intention of aging out of exercise.
If you are starting your wellness journey or are struggling to prioritize exercise, Anita has this advice: “Exercise should be like brushing your teeth. You don’t debate whether you feel like brushing your teeth; you just do it. The body is a machine and it needs to be taken care of like one; i.e., the oil changed regularly and the engine examined. Dedicate, at a minimum, 1 hour a day to the health of your body. We only have one body and it must be protected diligently.”
