She doesn't let distance get in her way
Mount Auburn Club has been part of Joanne Silverman’s life for more than 30 years. She has fond memories of playing on clay tennis courts, “Round Robin
Sundays” and tennis matches with friends after work. Most importantly to Joanne, she has developed lasting friendships through her frequent club visits
and participation in social events.
Three years ago Joanne underwent double knee replacement surgery. Joanne knew she could turn to her MAC family for support and to help her quickly return to her active lifestyle. With the guidance of MAC team members Sheryl Maskell and Mike Thornton, in just six months Joanne was back to playing tennis and exercising in her Wednesday workout group. If Joanne wasn't already in good shape, her rehabilitation could have taken more time and delayed her return to doing what she enjoys most.
Since retiring, Joanne moved about 45 - 60 minutes away from MAC. The distance isn't an issue for her though, in her eyes, “the ride is worth the travel time. Why would I look for another facility when the Mount Auburn Club has so much to offer?”
Thanks for sharing your story, Joanne! It is a true depiction of what consistency and dedication can do for long-term health.
