Mind / Body | Kim Clements Kim Clements has been dancing since the age of 5 and has never stopped. Her ballet background includes over 10 years of extensive classical training at the school of the Boston Ballet. In 1990 she entered the world of aerobics and became certified by the American Council of Exercise, specializing in the older population. As the owner of the famous Studio Sporer in Cambridge, she created a unique exercise facility devoted to the fitness needs of women over 40. In 1996, Kim came to the Mount Auburn Club and in the ensuing years, expanded the group exercise program from 40 classes a week to over 90. Kim is responsible for introducing the popular BodyPump, BodyStep and Pilates programs to the Mount Auburn Club. She has also developed a program of on-going specialty classes to broaden the scope of the group exercise program. These classes include Power Yoga, Ballet, T'ai Chi, Pre-Natal Yoga, Jazz Dance, and SPINyoga. Kim feels that a successful program is a diverse one, satisfying the needs of members of all ages and fitness levels. She also feels that exercise should be fun and has been known to ring cowbells in her Spinning classes and play polka music during abdominal work. Some of the annual events Kim created to promote goal setting and social interaction among members are the week-long Body Pump Birthday Bash and the 3 week Spinning Tour de France race. Kim teaches classical ballet, Aquacise, Body Pump, aerobics, Spinning, stretch and Pilates at the Mount Auburn Club. | | | Ben Cohen Ben has been teaching Kripalu Hatha Yoga throughout the Boston area since 1993, and at the Mount Auburn Club since 1996. She has taught aerobic group exercise, done near-competitive weight lifting, and now focuses her teaching primarily in yoga. For Diana, yoga resulted from a need to move in a different direction, both physically and spiritually. She was drawn to John Friend’s Anusara style of yoga and completed a 200-hr teacher training program in 2003 and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. Now, as a registered Anusara-Inspired yoga teacher, she delivers a caring, dynamic and passionate approach that focuses on optimal alignment through balance energy, having fun, and celebrating the radiance of the heart. Diana also offers private and small group Yoga sessions at the Club. In addition to John Friend, her teachers include Deb Neubauer, Desiree Rumbaugh, Ann Greene and Todd Norian. As a registered dietitian at the MAC, in addition to teaching nutrition in the Balance program, Diana partners one-on-one with clients as they embark upon a journey of lifestyle modification and behavioral change. Her counseling style emphasizes this partnership, and guides clients in identifying desires and establishing realistic goals that lead to ultimate success. | | | |
